Passengers safe after forced landing at Melbourne Airport

An Air Mauritius plane has landed safely at Melbourne Airport after being forced to turn back after a security incident on board.

The Airbus A340 with 190 people on board landing just before three this afternoon.

Emergency services, including 12 fire trucks, were on standby for a major incident.

Federal Police are now investigating.
