The nominees for New Zealand's most prestigious award for contemporary art, the Walters Prize have been announced. The four finalists include Simon Denny for 'Introductory logic video tutorial' shown at Artspace in Sydney in 2010. Sriwhana Spong's work 'Fanta Silver and Song' was exhibited last year at another Australian gallery, Gertrude Contemporary in Melbourne. Alicia Frankovich has also been nominated for Floor Resistance, which was shown at a Berlin Gallery last year. Fellow nominee Kate Newby also had her work, Crawl out your window, exhibited in Germany. The winner will receive $50,000 and an all expenses paid trip to New York, including the opportunity to exhibit at Saatchi & Saatchiâ s world headquarters. |
