The trial for Feilding farmer Scott Guy's alleged murderer begins in Wellington on Tuesday. His brother-in-law Ewen Macdonald is accused of gunning him down outside his Aorangi Road farmhouse in July 2010. Macdonald, who was a pall-bearer at Scott Guy's funeral, was arrested after a nine-month long police investigation. Lines of inquiry included a mystery around missing puppies, vandalism, and even moved to Southland where Macdonald and Scott Guy attended a dairy conference. A decision was made last year to move the trial from Palmerston North over concerns the jury would be influenced by the huge amount of speculation and rumours surrounding the case. The trial's set down for six weeks. Photo: NZ Herald |
