There's nothing the Mad Butcher likes more than a good roast... but has he got more than he bargained for this time?
Friends of Sir Peter Leitch gathered to give the Mad Butcher a good roasting, all in the service of raising money for charity.
Among those taking digs at Butch were Newstalk ZB host Leighton Smith, sports broadcasting legend Murray Deaker, and former All Black Sir John Kirwan.
Sir Peter Leitch first opened a butchery in Mangere in 1971. Since then he has built an empire of Mad Butcher stores across New Zealand.
He's always been a staunch supporter of the Warriors and Rugby League in New Zealand, and in the New Year Honours 2010 Leitch was appointed as a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business and philanthropy.Â
The Charity Roast of Sir Peter Leitch supported Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust and Prostate Cancer Foundation.
It was made possible by Westpac and proudly supported by Newstalk ZB.
