Black Caps selector Gavin Larsen joined the show to defend the Black Caps' decision to already rest key players for the West Indies ODI and T20 series.

It was reported this week that Kane Williamson and Tim Southee will only play the first ODI against the West Indies, despite the cricket seson only just beginning.

Larsen concedes that is a "vexed" subject but he is adamant the decision wasn't taken lightly.

He says the main reason for resting and rotating the squad to keep as many kep players fresh for as long as possible, while also testing out others and giving players like Tom Latham more experience captaining the side.
