A major investigation by the Weekend Herald has found dire living situations in many rest homes around New Zealand with not enough staff to provide a decent level of care and many overworked and under pressure. Consumer New Zealand researcher Jessica Wilson has been looking into the issue for a decade and says the government need to upgrade legislation to ensure a much higher standard for the vulnerable elderly.
