More damning allegations are being levelled against Auckland's district health board.

It's after claims of bullying in its morgue, and claims of racism and other disrespect around the way bodies are handled.

The organisation for mortuary technicians in the UK has said it won't advertise jobs while investigations are underway.

And a teaching technician at Oxford University who spent nine weeks in the mortuary back in 2009, is also critical.

Tim Reen told Mike Hosking the department's atmosphere was insidious.

"I think there was a toxic environment which has been created by certain individuals within that department. I think when they started employing UK technicians, it was just another thing for these individuals to attack."

Reed said the problems trickled down from the top.
