An Australian senator is standing her ground against same-sex marriage, despite her party telling her she'll cost it votes.
Labor's Helen Polly is a devout Catholic who says she's being urged by senior MPs to show favour to changing the Marriage Act.
But Australian correspondent Steve Price told Larry Williams she's staying true to the people who elected her based on her views.
"She has said, 'look I'm not going to change my vote at all.'
"I've been told I could be responsible for losing the election, it would be much easier for my life in some respects dealing with my colleagues to change my position but I'm not going to do that."
The same-sex marriage debate was thrown into the spotlight last night when US performer Macklemore performed his song 'Same Love' at the NRL Grand Final.
The Melbourne Storm defeated the North Queensland Cowboys 34-6 to win their third Premiership.
