The public has nothing to fear from police using anti-depressants.
This from the researcher who persuaded police to ditch a policy of a two year stand down, for new recruits on the medication.
Auckland University psychiatry professor, Robert Kydd told Mike Hosking people on mental health medications are likely to be more well than than they would be without the drugs.
"The anti-depressants themselves aren't actually really the issue in terms of any effect they might have on the person's cognitive function or whatever."
