The alarm bells are sounding even louder on the future of the Frozen Continent.
A study out this morning entitled, Choosing the Future of Antarctica, highlights how it has lost three trillion tonnes of ice since 1992 due to warmer oceans.
Antarctic Research Centre Associate Professor Nick Golledge told Mike Hosking the key issue now is the acceleration of this ice loss.
"We're painting a picture where the projections show that by the end of the century we'll be looking at a metre of sea level rise around the world and maybe even more."
Golledge says there's no doubt we're at fault.
"We're putting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere they're warming the air, the air is then basically warming the oceans. The thing that's really important to understand is that the ocean globally is taking up about ninety-three percent of the heat that is going into the atmosphere."
