Police Commissioner Mike Bush told Mike Hosking these robberies have to stop.
"We don't want anyone else to be hurt. We don't want anyone else's jobs and livelihoods to be in jeopardy so we've got to do more. We've got to do more for employees, we've got to do more across the communities.
"Because there's been an increase we've got to step up, so we're turning up the heat in a number of ways."
Almost 600 aggravated robberies were reported in January and February.
