Scathing criticism of New Zealand's attitude toward child abuse.

The inquest into the killing of baby Moko Rangitoheriri has heard some of the recommendations made after Nia Glassie's death have been implemented, but there hasn't been major change.

Former Women's Refuge CEO and now Rotorua Lakes Council member Merepeka Raukawa-Tait has given evidence at the inquest.

She told Larry Williams we still treat child abuse with an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.

"So don't pussyfoot around and say once something happens we'll get in there, we've got all these resources. Hell no, get in first and make sure you've got the right people, the ones who can get their feet in the door in the first place."
