Every Friday morning, Mike Hosking takes you through the big ticket items of the week and lets you know what he makes of it all.

Here's a taste of what he reckons.

Perpetual Guardian

7/10.

"They potentially have done us all a favour.
Is it possible with their experiment they’ve shaken us out of the age old, five day 40 hour week straitjacket, that we so often talk about but don’t actually change?"

Elon Musk

1/10.

"Not just disgusting and a horrific mistake, but reputationally dangerous for a company that burns cash, hasn’t turned a profit, and looks increasingly out of its depth
And worst of all gives you an insight into who he really is."

Simon Mannering

9/10.

"He could not have done a lot more, could not have served a lot better, and deserves the appropriate send off at the end of the season.

This is our year by the way."

Donald Trump

4/10.

"NATO was good, Brexit was ok, that was the "tell it like it is” Trump.

But by the time he got to Helsinki the pills were wearing off and something very bad happened, and he's been wearing himself out backpedaling ever since."

Regional New Zealand

8/10.

"According to Infometrics, the life blood of the economy, growth is all over the place.

The regions may save us after all."

School Holidays

8/10.

"They're almost over, even the kids say they're bored. Well they do until Monday then it's all full of regret."
