A directive to Wellington Rugby Union to modernise its culture is being welcomed.
LISTEN ABOVE: Former Black Fern Louisa Wall spoke to Mike Hosking
Dame Margaret Bazley has released her review into the Wellington Rugby Union's handling of the Losi Filipo assault case.
She's made six recommendations including that the union embarks on a 10-year plan to bring its cultural norms up to the expectation of modern standards.
Former Black Fern and now Labour MP Louisa Wall told Mike Hosking she's thrilled with the extent of Dame Margaret's review.
She said the acknowledgement from the union that it has some responsibilities to players off the field as well is good.
"Rugby now sees that they have a role and responsibility in society to prepare young people for life.
"And hopefully they will become professional rugby players, but not many of them will and so they need to be concerned about providing all players, not only rugby skills, but life skills as well."
Wainuiomata and Wellington Pride player Alice Soper said 10 years is more than enough time to get women in to top Rugby Union positions.

She said there are many talented women involved in the sport, who could be shoulder tapped tomorrow.
"There's a lot of volunteers but not so many people getting paid to get out there, develop and do things for women's rugby."
