Medical professionals are calling for tighter controls on the prescribing of antibiotics.
It's estimated resistance to antibiotics will be causing up to 10 million deaths a year by 2050, and costing the global economy 100 trillion US dollars.
The Royal Australasian College of Physicians is calling for action, and Jonathan Christiansen, its New Zealand President, told Mike Hosking there are simple things we can do, such as restricting products like over-the-counter anti-bacterial soaps.
