Calls for inquiry into mental health system

A woman who lost her daughter to suicide says things won't improve until we stop blaming each other.

Hana Reedy's petition goes to Parliament today with more than 30,000 signatures.

She started it after losing her 15 year old daughter to suicide.

Ms Reedy said the system failed her family, with professionals not taking her daughter's suicide attempts seriously.

She told Mike Hosking the point of the petition is to help other families suffering with mental health issues.

Ms Reedy said parents don't know where to go, and they're being blamed instead of receiving help.

She hopes the petition will lead to help being made available to other families.

"If I can't get any help with the seriousness of my daughter, leading up to her passing, there's no hope. I can't see anywhere we can go."
