Hamish Walker has been selected by local National Party members to be their candidate in Clutha-Southland - the seat once held by Todd Barclay.Â
The 32-year-old business advisor is based near Balclutha and says this is an opportunity to continue his family legacy.
Walker says his grandfather started the Young Nats in the 1940s and ran campaigns for Ralph Hanan, so the National Party's been in his blood since he was a young man.
The police investigation into departing Clutha Southland MP Todd Barclay continues.
Walker joined Mike Hosking this morning.Â
