Jacinda Ardern's pursuit of Malcolm Turnbull over the fate of Manus Island detainees is being defended by her Finance Minister.

Eyebrows have been raised by the Prime Minister's latest comments on the issue, labelling Australia's handling of the asylum seekers unacceptable, and causing real harm.
Finance Minister, Grant Robertson told Mike Hosking Ms Ardern hasn't crossed a diplomatic line.

"I think New Zealanders would want us to stand up, do the right thing and play our part here."
He the PM will continue to extend the offer to take some of the refugees, until Australia outright declines it.
