Foreign Affairs Minister Gerry Brownlee greeted the secretary personally when he arrived yesterday.Â
He told Mike Hosking they want to better understand how Britain will position itself internationally.
"Given that for nearly 40 years their foreign policy has been very much tied to their involvement with the European economic community initially, or now the union."
Brownlee said getting to grips with future trade access will be important following Brexit.
"The possibility of a trade deal with Britain, which both Prime Ministers have signalled as something they'd like to achieve, and then of course the issue of access into Britain for New Zealanders."
