An Upper Hutt man not satisfied with his town's weather reporting is taking the issue into his own hands.
Daniel Talbot's crowd-funding $30,000 to set up his own D-I-Y weather station and give up to the minute forecasts to Upper Hutt residents.
He told Mike Hosking forecasts at the moment aren't always accurate because of micro-climates in the region.
"One of the reasons why I want to do the one in Upper Hutt is because we have really high temperatures here in Upper Hutt and they are never really recorded."
Talbot says he plans to create more weather stations around the Wellington region.
