Emmanuel Macron's efforts to forge closer ties with the US, are likely to play well at home.
The French president has used a rare speech to both houses of the US Congress, to call on America to play a leading role in global affairs.
He's also urged Donald Trump to keep troops in Syria and remain part of the Iran nuclear deal.
France correspondent Catherine Field told Mike Hosking the French welcome the newfound affection between Macron and Trump.
"Perhaps there were too many hands and a few too many hugs and kisses. The French quite like it though, they enjoy seeing their president on the grand stage."
