Builders are taking a pragmatic approach to government plans to lift the age of entitlement to superannuation from 2037.

They say it will be harder for them to work through to 67 than someone with an office job, but there's time to make adjustments.

Building Industry Federation CEO Bruce Kohn told Mike Hosking the proposed changes don't kick in for another 20 years and there's a review period in any event.

He says at the same time, the industry is moving to much more offsite construction ike prefab-type housing, which will mean an easing of the number of jobs required which have heavy labouring duties.
