A group of women have been swinging for pole position in Nelson.
Miss Pole Queen New Zealand has been crowned, after nine pole dancers took to the stage to compete at the weekend.
Founder of the competition Trina Duffield told Mike Hosking pole dancing is growing in popularity, with people installing their own poles at home to improve acrobatic ability on the pole.
"Definitely advanced level, definitely inverting, so if you're going to have to be doing stuff up the pole, you have to have that strength and flexibility."
Duffield also offered to supply Mike with a pole.
