It's in Britain's best interest to hold off starting the negotiation process of Brexit as long as possible.
Prime Minister David Cameron has met with national leaders at an EU Summit in Brussels - they want him to enact section 50 of the agreement to kick off Britain's exit from the EU.
But Euronew's James Franey told Mike Hosking there's a stand off, because once the section's used, Britain immediately weakens its position.
"Because as soon as you do that, you set a two-year timeline running in which you have to negotiate these very complex procedures for untangling yourself from the European Union, which has simply never been done before."
Mr Franey said EU members can huff and puff all they like, but all they can do is wait.
David Cameron has stated it will be his successor, who's expected to step into place in September, who'll trigger the exit.
