Households in a relatively remote Waikato valley are without access to emergency services amidst issues with phone lines.
Around 40 households at Waikaretu, between Port Waikato and Raglan are struggling to get a decent phone line and haven't had a reliable link for weeks.
Waikato Mayor Allan Sanson told Mike Hosking it's dangerous.
"There are farmers out on a daily basis on motorbikes and tractors - anything could happen at any time on a farm. The wrong thing happens and all of a sudden you need emergency services, and somebody may have to hop in a car and drive for an hour to find a serviceable phone."
Mr Sanson said the community's isolation leaves them vulnerable.
"It's around about an hour away from any major population base or anywhere where they could actually get to a decent phone service or emergency service."
The Mayor has not yet heard from Chorus.
