David Jones is expanding its presence in New Zealand with it’s announcement that a second store will be opening in Auckland.

It is part of Scentre group's $790 million redevelopment plan for Westfield Newmarket, which yesterday

CEO of the Newmarket Business Association Mark Knoff-Thomas has been working closely with this project.

He told Larry Williams that David Jones will be a big part of the mall.

It means competition for nearby businesses, but Knoff-Thomas says it means that businesses need to be at the top of their game and focusing on things such as their website and social media.

“If you’re doing all those things right, and you’re not trading like it’s 1992, everything’s going to be alright.”

He says that Newmarket will be able to handle the extra traffic generated by the development.
