The average life expectancy for New Zealanders is tipped to reach 85 by 2030, while the life gap in life expectancy between men and women is set to close.
The findings - from an Imperial College London and World Health Organization study - predicted changes in life expectancy across 35 countries over the next 14 years.

Public Health Professor Majid Ezzati said South Korean women will soon have a life expectancy of 90.
"South Korea has been doing remarkably well for investing in early childhood nutrition and education and has made sure that these reach all the children - so a good start to life for everybody.
"They have some of the lowest levels of hypertension and obesity in the world. They seem to be good at taking up medical knowledge and technology."
