Grape growers are struggling to find workers, as sunny conditions cause the fruit to ripen ahead of schedule.
The conditions are making for a bumper crop but there may not be enough labourers to make the most of it.
New Zealand Wine Growers CEO Philip Gregan told Kate Hawkesby the is not much they can do except get out, and pick as much as they can.
"The plants don't stop growing. They have their own schedule and we have to adapt to the schedule and there has certainly been some labour supply issues around the country."
