It seems as though there are a few that are ruining it for the rest among kiwifruit labour companies.
A new group has been set up recently to look out for workers, and tackle failings within the industry.
The kiwifruit workers alliance, set up by First Union, has fielded complaints from hundreds of people over the past couple of days, wanting to share their stories of poor working conditions.
First Union organiser Jared Abbott, told Kate Hawkesby there are companies that are actually complying with the law and employing staff correctly.
"They're so frustrated that they have to compete with these other places that just get such a huge advantage by just not paying correctly."
Abbott says they are often approached by workers who feel they're being exploited.
"A lot of employment arrangements where workers are not given the adequate job security to be able to take personal grievances or enforce their minimum standard rights against their true employer."
