Children have a right to use technology, just like they have a right to climb a tree.
That's according to an internet safety expert, which says parents should control their children's tech use logically rather than emotionally.
It follows a survey from the UK found six in 10 young people have received abusive comments online.
John Parsons told Rachel Smalley the best thing for parents to do is make sure their child is developing the right skills offline.
"Do they play, do they build things, are they developing inter-personal skills. All of that will certainly set them up to use it successfully when they do engage with it."
