Hangovers and cirrhosis of the liver could become things of the past.

It's the dream of Professor David Nutt, a former drug advisor who now teachers at Imperial College in London.

He's looking for investors to help him develop a synthetic alcohol.

Professor Nutt told Nadine Higgins it will provide all the positive experiences of alcohol, without getting people so drunk they're vomiting, forget where they've been, and end up with a hangover.

"That kind of sense of pretty relaxed, sociable, the tension of life's gone, you've forgotten the misery of the day and looking forward to a pleasant evening with your friends."
