A promoter is promising Sevens fans a cheaper tournament in Hamilton, than in Wellington.
The Waikato city's won the hosting rights for the event after 18 years in the capital.
Event promoter 37 South's managing director Dallas Fisher told Rachel Smalley the average cost for an out-of-town fan was $1200, when the Sevens were in Wellington.
"We're going to have thousands of people driving down State Highway 1 or coming on the train or bus services that we're going to be putting on, so total cost of fans coming to the event in the Waikato will be substantially lower."
Fans going to the new Hamilton tournament, are expected to take a four-day weekend for the event.
He told Rachel Smalley it will take place on the Saturday and Sunday before Waitangi Day, which is on the Tuesday.
"Come to the Sevens. Might nip over to Hobbiton, out to Raglan for a coffee, Waitomo to see the caves."
Fisher said private businesses will be funding the Sevens and said there's no question there'll be an economic benefit for the region.
