Calls for a ban on booze advertising in Australia are gaining traction, sparking calls for similar action here.
A new survey shows more than 70 percent of Australians want alcohol ads during sport broadcasts to be phased out.
Alcohol Heath Watch executive director, Dr Nicki Jackson told Rachel Smalley a crackdown would have wide-ranging benefits.
"The harm from alcohol sponsorship is clearly demonstrated both to spectators and New Zealand sports players. Those who are sponsored drink heavier quantities of alcohol."
