It seems the crash of Malaysian Airlines flight 370 was accidental, rather than intentional.

The plane disappeared in March 2014 while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

CNN aviation analyst Mary Schiavo told Rachel Smalley a new report suggests the plane was in what's sometimes called a death spiral - where it gains speed and is unable to keep flying.

"It leans the investigators toward being an accident, it leans them actually towards being more of a mechanical malfunction."

Schiavo said the writers of the report didn't go so far as to say this absolutely rules out intentional or nefarious acts, but say it makes it less likely.

"You would not fly it in such a way to have it fall from 30,000 feet and have a hard hit into the ocean, because parts will come off and parts will eventually float to be found."
