Republic debate reignited by Prince Philip's retirement

The chair of the Australian Republican Movement Peter FitzSimons joins Andrew Dickens to discuss why he so strongly believes the time is right for Australia to become a republic.

Dr Sean Palmer, chairman of Monarchy New Zealand, was next up, and said republicans often "miss fundamental parts of our constitution" in their arguments.

He said the most democratic and "free" countries in the world tend to be constitutional monarchies, while republics don't have a great track record.
