Hawke's Bay scoops wine awards

01/10/2008 15:20:10

Hawke's Bay has scooped more trophies than any other region at the 2008 New Zealand International Wine Show.

The region picked up 11 out of 19 gold medals presented to Chardonnays, from more than 2000 entries.

The region's red wines added to the medal haul, winning all five golds in the Merlot and Merlot blend sections.

Hawke's Bay's Church Road winery also boasts the Champion Wine of Show Trophy and Champion Chardonnay from this year's competition for its 2006 Reserve.
