Amputated leg sale goes awry

26/05/2006 12:20:03

A Nelson man's attempt to sell his amputated leg may not be as successful as he first thought.

Shane Torrance's leg was removed about 15 months ago due to complications from diabetes.

He gained national publicity when TradeMe kicked him off its website because it does not deal in body parts.

He has since advertised the sale of his leg through radio. The largest offer he received was $4,000.

However a friend says he has been unable to get hold of the person who made the bid and the second highest bidder has pulled out.
