Brethren attacking Tasmanian Greens?

17/03/2006 5:12:04

The Greens are appalled their counterparts in Tasmania are being targeted in a smear campaign apparently organised by the Exclusive Brethren.

Co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons she says costly, half-page ads have appeared in several newspapers and a pamphlet has been distributed which widely targets the Tasmanian Greens.

She says it mirrors what happened in New Zealand during last year's election campaign when her party was the subject of a smear-campaign by the same religious group.

Ms Fitzsimons says she would be interested to see whether other right-wing interest groups, including political parties, colluded with the Australian Exclusive Brethren as seems to be the case here.
