Whangarei firm wins award

21/11/2005 15:31:08

A monster suitcase-shaped tent made in Whangarei is the winner of an International Excellence Award.

The marquee resembles a Louis Vuitton handbag, only it is nearly as big as a rugby field and as tall as a four storey building.

Louis Vuitton used the New Zealand-made tent for the opening of its mega stores in Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo and Paris.

The 'suitcase' has won the tent manufacturing category in this year's International Industrial Fabrics Awards.

Fabric Shelter Systems Director, Warwick Bell, says the tent reflects the ultimate in kiwi ingenuity and the company is thrilled with the recognition.
