National policies not written by business - Brash

31/08/2005 16:48:05

Don Brash is again being forced to defend National's policies as Labour intensifies its insistence that they are being written by big business.

Dr Brash appears to be becoming increasingly rattled by the attack, which Labour believes is turning into a very successful strategy for the Government.

He has been put on the spot at a press conference in Wellington, about links with the Business Round Table.

Dr Brash denies his Orewa One speech and National's race relations policy were penned by them, adding that 26 members of his 27 member caucus endorsed the speech.

He says his race relations policy reflects National party policy, not policy made by anybody else, and has also revealed that Business Roundtable head Roger Kerr opposed his Orewa One speech.

Dr Brash says all the policy contained in his Orewa One speech, was actually written by former leader Bill English.

During continued questioning about race relations, a flustered Don Brash said National would change the school curriculum to ensure kids are told the Treaty of Waitangi is NOT a partnership document between Maori and Pakeha.
