Race tightens in Tamaki Makaurau

31/08/2005 8:10:06

There has been a dramatic tightening in the race for Tamaki Makaurau.

A month ago, Maori Party co-leader Pita Sharples was registering 63 percent support and Labour incumbent John Tamihere 25, but the latest Maori TV-TNS poll has the gap down to six points, with Mr Tamihere on 43 percent and the challenger 49.

Meanwhile, the Maori Party plans to make a major announcement regarding the Maori electorates this afternoon.
