Tau Henare virtually guaranteed place in Parliament

30/05/2005 5:36:06

National believes it has produced its strongest list in a long time.

Former New Zealand First MP Tau Henare looks set for a return to Parliament, after being placed at number 29 on National's list.

Party president Judy Kirk says he is definitely an asset. She says he is personable, well-connected to all New Zealanders and has a sound knowledge of the Parliamentary process.

Diplomat Tim Groser is in 13th place and Wellington barrister Chris Finlayson is 27th. Former Wellington mayor Mark Blumsky and Auckland principal Allan Peachey are also high in the rankings.

Ms Kirk says there is a very good feeling about the line-up, which she says represents a slice of middle New Zealand.
