Jetskier set for marathon journey

31/07/2010 13:24:01

New Zealand adventurer Jeremy Burfoot sets off on a 32,000 kilometre journey tomorrow on a jetski.

The 51-year-old airline pilot departs from London and will spend up to 12 hours a day for four months astride a jetski on his way back to New Zealand.

One of Mr Burfoot's goals is to smash the world record for riding a personal watercraft, but he also wants to raise awareness about cancer prevention, after battling skin cancer himself in the past. He says he does not mind people calling him an idiot, as he faces possible encounters with sharks, bad weather and pirates along the way.
