The reappearance of New Zealand's strangest looking group of supporters will help to kick off a triple-header in the ITM Cup today.

Manawatu coach Dave Rennie is expecting the number of bucket heads to swell this season, starting in Southland this afternoon.

"They've put the buckets away over the summer so hopefully they'll turn out in force this week. Obviously we've got fantastic opposition at home this year. We've got Canterbury the following Thursday and Sonny Bill's supposed to play so I'm really looking forward to big crowds."

The match starts off at 2.35pm. In the day's other matches, Otago takes on Counties at 4.30pm and Waikato and Bay of Plenty face each other at 6.35pm in Hamilton.
