Jet setting MPs spouses and former MPs have had their international travel allowances further restricted by parliament's speaker. MPs' partners will no longer qualify for discounted international travel unless they are travelling together. Politicians and their spouses get an up to 90 percent discount depending on how long the politician has been in parliament. The unlimited free domestic travel they get remains. Speaker Lockwood Smith has also frozen the international travel discount former MPs, elected before 1999, were getting.
