Injuries cost Godfrey

14/03/2010 13:28:02

Injuries sustained from a collision with a car have cost Hayden Godfrey a place in the national squad for the upcoming world track cycling championships in Denmark.

The 2008 world omnium champion went head to head with Myron Simpson for the last place in the squad, and lost to the young Aucklander's speed across the trial events.

Godfrey needed surgery after being hit by a car while training in Christchurch in late January, and Tim Carswell says the missed training left the 31-year-old under prepared.

The world champs start in Copenhagen on March 24th.
