NZers stranded in Peru safe and well

30/01/2010 10:20:01

Fourteen New Zealanders have now been evacuated from Peru, following this week's floods and mudslides around Machu Picchu.

Seven are still waiting to be taken out of the area and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says Peruvian authorities expect evacuations to be completed by the end of today.

A spokeswoman says the ministry has been in contact with the remaining New Zealanders and they are all safe and well.
