Prince William will enjoy a state dinner with a distinctive New Zealand flavour during his state visit here in January. Instead of a formal sit-down dinner, he will be invited to a barbecue in the gardens of Premier House in Wellington.

Lamb chops, tomato sauce, sausages and salads will be on the menu.

Prime Minister John Key also plans to invite All Blacks Richie McCaw and Dan Carter to 'share a few cold ones' with the Prince.
