Mike Pero to charter flight to Erebus

25/11/2009 18:12:01

Mortgage broker Mike Pero will charter a Boeing 747 in January for people who wish to travel to Antarctica to pay their respects to the victims of the Erebus disaster.

Saturday marks 30 years since flight 901 crashed into Mount Erebus, killing all 257 passengers and crew onboard.

Mr Pero says 307 people can take part in the trip, which is primarily for family and friends of the Erebus disaster victims. He says the aircraft will not land but will spend a couple of hours in the region.

It will leave Auckland on January 31 around 8am and return 12 hours later.

Tickets will range from $1,400 to nearly $9,000 depending on seating preferences.
