An announcement is imminent on the free-to-air broadcast rights for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Prime Minister John Key says talks with the IRB on the joint Maori TV, TVNZ, and TV3 bid have been positive and he expects an announcement on the outcome this week, possibly as early as tomorrow. He says only minor changes to the package are likely, but they will not be revealed until the final details are unveiled.
